Introduction
Solar pannels have been a revolutionary way to generate clean energy for a long time. By generating electricity with solar pannels, pollution isn't released and they even don't need high power to operate. They are as just simple to keep them in the sunlight, make a connection to the appliances and let the rest of work to sun. Today, solar energy is perhaps the cleanest method of generating electricity.
Billionaire like Elon Musk, are also putting their great effort on creating solar dependent cities and town, they even use solar powers in their companies to get the most of the machinery work done.
How does solar pannel works?
Solar panels are made out of photovoltaic cells that convert the sun’s energy into electricity.
Photovoltaic cells are sandwiched between layers of semi-conducting materials such as silicon. Each layer has different electronic properties that energise when hit by photons from sunlight, creating an electric field. This is known as the photoelectric effect – and it’s this that creates the current needed to produce electricity.
Solar panels generate a direct current of electricity. This is then passed through an inverter to convert it into an alternating current, which can be fed into the National Grid or used by the home or business the solar panels are attached to.
Do solar panels work on cloudy days?
Solar panels react to the visible light spectrum. This means, if it’s light enough to see, there’s enough light for solar panels to start generating electricity. But the stronger the sunlight, the more power solar panels will generate.
What the idea is?
Even though, solar pannel can work on most of the cloudy days. They don't need a highest temperature setup to get charged. But what if we could solve this problem, even though there us cloudy for months we would get the desirable energy we want to get from our sun.
The idea is that somehow we could make the solar pannels flow in the sky above the clouds. So that they can not have any of effect of weather to get charged. Even if there is no sunrise for the next 2-3 months it won't effect the panels. And we will not have to put solar pannels in a long field, letting the flow of pannels in air will minimise the space required for the installation of solar pannel.
But now we need to find the way to do that so. And yes ofcourse, there are some cons too for this idea which we will elaborate below.
First starting with how can we make the pannels float in the sky?
To do so we have some of the way which probably are unethical for today.
We want some force to lift that pannel staright away from the ground to a respective position in the sky. We can do that in the following ways
Magnetic Leviation
Magnetic Leviation technology is used in some of the fastest trains in the world (Maglev). Somehow if we could place a giant magnet on the ground and make the solar pannels magnetic so that the pannels can be attracted or repulsed by the magnet then we will be able to lift the pannel . As i mention above that this have cons too so now lets take a look at the cons of the method of magnetic Leviation.
- We will have to make a special kind of magnetic lift for the solar pannels because it is possible that the magnet may attract another magnetic things present on the surface, Which is truly not acceptable
- This will affect the flight system of the planes which may result in interference in the direction sensor of the planes and results in damaging the navigation system of aircrafts. Afterall it is that strong magent which will lift the pannels several foots above the ground so it must be made very strong
- The cost for creating this magnetic Leviation everywhere will be very very expensive and the cost for maintaining the magnets will be even more expensive
So we have some other way to make this possible but as same as from the above method this methods too have their respective pros and cons, let's take a look at them!
Making a kite solar pannel
We can make a very light weight solar pannel so that it can use air resistance to stay continuosly in the air without disturbing other physical phenomena
And from there we will send energy directly to ground using wireless transmission of electricity or there could be a better way to do this same. Here's the way
Install pannels in the space
Installation of solar pannel in space wi have no effect on the earth and will absorb the pure light energy from the sun and generate electricity. We will just need to find a way so that we could transmitt energy wirelessly to the stations. But installation of solar pannels in space is a very expensive procedure and maintenance of it will cost even more. We will have to make sure that that pannels don't come in the orbit of satelite of any of spacecraft. We too must protect it from the space debris. If the pannels may get hit by the debris it will make a great loss and transmission of electricity from space to earth's surface is not possible on a very large scale.
So we will have to advance the wireless energy transmission technology. And who knows it might be the next big thing....
